When Callum goes to tell his little brother the terrible truth, he finds he can't do it either. When Callum finds out the news from an old friend of his, he's hurt that Reyla didn't tell him sooner. For instance, Reyla tries to tell the boys about their father's murder and can't bring herself to say it. Perhaps what I appreciate most about the show is that the characters don't fall into the common miscommunication tropes presented in other children's shows. The main themes are about friendship, not assuming the worst of others, that shortcuts to get what you want always have a cost. The characters are not one note, they have arcs that show their growth as individuals. Focusing on this one factor of the show and deciding not to watch the rest is throwing out the baby with the bath water. HOWEVER, if you truly take a look at the overall story, that is not what the focus of the show is. As a Christian, I too don't understand the push to normalize homosexuality. I've read through a lot of negative reviews and I get where y'all are coming from.
